Garmin's Nuvi 205W is a slightly updated model of the 2X5 series 200 Nuvi line. New features such as FM traffic updates or MSN Direct content capability. But some significant improvements with this new series, like a predictive technology that provides faster satellite lock, a redesigned screen with more information, terrain maps, and an exciting new photo navigation feature.
Garmin 205W offers a wide 4.3 in diagonal screen with a slim design that Garmin introduced, so they all fit comfortably in your pocket or purse, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that makes them convenient for navigation by car or foot. The Garmin nuvi 2 series really is some great GPS units for the money. It’s hard to beat the 255W on price and value.

I chose this model because another reviewer wrote that the loudspeaker is larger on these non-Bluetooth models.
ANY of these Garmins beats any of the GPSs that come from the car manufacturer (OEM). I just saw the one that comes with the new Cadillac and it was horrible. (I bet it cost more than this Nuvi, too.) The brand-new Cadillac driver asked if I knew where there was a McDonald’s, so I found “points of interest” on his GPS, but then I had to *spell* “McDonald’s” and up came McDonald’s furniture store, etc. –no restaurant. On the Garmin I just hit points-of-interest and then “food,” and it lists restaurants that I never knew existed, nearest on top. The OEM unit didn’t have categories. On this I can specify Mexican or Italian food, etc.
This unit can be easily replaced when it becomes outmoded. (I’ll just come back here and buy another one.) I like being able to take it in the house where I can look up addresses on the computer and program them into the GPS. I like the way it looks on my dash. And it’s SAFER TO USE because I’m LOOKING OUT THE WINDSHIELD, rather than down at the dashboard, when I use it!
The foreign languages work great; there are more languages available for the text than the speech. For example, it will display in Thai but not speak Thai.
