The Garmin Nuvi 255w is a big improvement over the base 200-series, by adding features such as FM traffic updates or MSN Direct content to an entry-level line. The 255w adds maps for North America and Text-to-Speech, so you get turn by turn spoken directions with the real names of streets (e.g. "turn left in 100 feet on first court", rather than simply "turn left in 100 feet"). The 255w also has a wide 4.3-inch (diagonal) screen that displays 70% more of the road around you.
As in all of the 200 series the 255w will fit in your pocket of purse. All come with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that make them very convenient for use. All of the models in the series include JPEG picture viewer, time zones with a world travel clock, currency converter, calculator and much more.
